4th of july pictures

On the 4th of July, we headed over to my brother's house. His neighbors buy huge, almost professional grade fireworks. Thousands of dollars worth. So we went to watch. Except Josh. He wanted to stay home with Grandma.
There aren't many kids Ethan's age where we live, so he had a good time walking around with big middle school boys and getting his first taste of pyromania. It was a great night for him because he was allowed to light things on fire, which has never happened to him before.

My brother bought a special package of long "sparklers" but they seemed more like torches to me.

And when it got dark, they broke out the glow head-bands and earrings.
Then the real show began. These things were huge, and we stayed under the porch awning because ashes of burned paper kept dropping on our heads.
It was such a beautiful fire hazard.
