I love to see the temple...again

The weekend before last, I went to the temple with the youth from church. Last weekend, my sister's family met us at the Orlando Temple. We let the dad's watch the kids while my sister and I went in, then we traded off and let the guys go in. While we wandered around the lovely temple grounds, I decided to take some pictures of cousin-time.

These guys were so excited to see each other again. They weren't so excited to have to hang out in the parking lot for several hours, but at least they were with people they like.

The architecture at the temple is so stunning. If you've never been to an LDS (aka Mormon) temple, find one near you and go wander the grounds. Even just being in the beautiful gardens brings so much peace.
I was surprised to find some citrus trees on the temple grounds. All these years and I never noticed them!

Rebecca caught a little green frog, and showed it to Ethan. I tried to take a picture, but it kept moving and  too blurry.
The kids love to touch the temple.
Ethan's middle school science fair project will be about paper airplanes, so he brought a stack of paper and practiced making and throwing them in the parking lot.
President Boyd K. Packer, President of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, described blessings of attending the temple (or even sitting and meditating on the temple grounds if you can't go inside):

“Sometimes our minds are so beset with problems, and there are so many things clamoring for attention at once that we just cannot think clearly and see clearly. At the temple the dust of distraction seems to settle out, the fog and the haze seem to lift, and we can ‘see’ things that we were not able to see before and find a way through our troubles that we had not previously known."
This is why, even though I went two weeks in a row, I don't mind. I love to see the temple.

  1. We were at the temple a few months ago when they planted the citrus trees (on the north side), so they're fairly new--so don't beat yourself up about not noticing them. The children wanted to pick all the fruit, but Chris told them it was the "forbidden fruit"!
