thanksgiving part deux: traumatizing the children

As you know from {this} post, I've been dying to cut my hair for a few months now. Well, my sister cuts all her boys hair, so she was brave and said she wanted to try to cut mine. I'm not picky when it comes to hair. I like to experiment and sometimes cut my own hair, and the worst that would happen is I'd have to go get it fixed. Whatevs.

So cutting my hair became our post-multicultural-Thanksgiving-meal activity.

As soon as she started cutting, we both got a little nervous. And may or may not have started to laugh maniacally. But Maryann carried on, and following {this} tutorial, gave me a great pixie cut.

You can't tell what it looks like in this picture. Chris insisted on getting an "after" shot, even though I was about to get in the shower to wash all the hair-flakes off. He always takes such flattering pictures of me.

When I was finally hair-flake free, I came out of the bathroom, and Ashley ran over calling, "Mommy!" then froze when she saw me, and looked away like she was embarrassed that my hair was all gone. Josh kept telling me all night that I looked like a man. Benjamin came up to me several times and asked, "Who are you?" Now all the kids need counseling.

We went to the beach the next morning and my short hair blew in the strong wind, so you still can't tell what it looks like in any of the pictures.

Chris's hair was crazy, too. One of these days I'll get a decent picture of how my new pixie looks.

I love it, and am glad Maryann was brave enough to try! 

In other news, someone loaned Maryann's family a maze ball, and everyone was obsessed the entire weekend with trying to get the little marble through the entire thing without falling off the track. Aside from my traumatizing haircut, that was the most talked-about thing all weekend.
