Trick or Treat!

We were so lucky this year that Halloween night had amazing weather (Josh even wore shorts). The kids were excited to finally get to trick-or-treat again (we've mostly been trunk-or-treating at church for the past three years).
We headed out to a neighbor's cemetery plot in their front yard to eat dinner before knocking on doors.
Ethan insisted on using his Russian fur hat as his trick or treat bag. Despite being kind of creepy, it was fine with me because it didn't hold much candy :)
The kids in this neighborhood have been so quick to be friendly to my kids, and Ashley had fun hanging out at the girls' table. One of her friends dressed up like Elvis, so we had to get a picture in front of Elvis's headstone with her.
All the little superheros wanted to defeat Ethan. He kept getting kicked and punched every time he turned around. Also, I didn't get a picture of it, but there was another Harry Potter at the party, and when he and Josh saw each other, they both held up their wands and began casting spells on each other.
As soon as dinner was over, it was a race to get to each door with the neighbor kids.
These pictures are blurry, but I love them. It shows how excited they were to get from house to house.
Even Death was in a hurry to get more candy, lifting up his skirt and running with the crowd.
The night was seriously so beautiful, and the neighbors so friendly, I felt extremely thankful that we get the opportunity to live here for a while, and at the same time a bit sad to think that it will only be for a few years. It's such a great neighborhood.
The kids decided they were done when their tiny bags were full, so we didn't get a years supply of sugar and artificial food coloring. But it was fun while it lasted, and they were even happy to share some of their loot with Chris and me.
Ashley spent some time pondering her future costume and candy route for next year... ;)

  1. So awesome! Great costumes! And it made laugh looking at a picture of death running with the gathered skirts to get more candy. :) You are so funny, Gaylene!
